Yesterday was Memorial Day, a day set aside to remember those who have given the ulitmate sacrifice for our freedom and offers a time to reflect in honor of those who have fought and are fighting for these United States of America. We have these special days scattered throughout the year, but every day we should reflect on those men and women who put the USA, our freedom, the safety of our very lives before themselves. Words cannot explain the gratitude I have for you, these eyes of blue tear up for you at this time as I simply say, “Thank you for all that you do!”
I slept in late on Saturday, that has not happened in months, literally, it was great. We got a lot accomplished at the house, things that we had been putting off or just simply did not have time for. We even ran a few errands, which meant, spending money, which was not at the top of my list! But all is well, we completed our list. My sister and nephew came over for dinner. My nephew just recently turned one year old… and it was obvious that he was not feeling well. After we ate the world’s largest dinner, I went with my sister to a Cooks Children Urgent Care Center in Hurst. It is a nice facility and there was barely a wait. The doctor confirmed that my nephew had two ear infections… just as his mommy and I had suspected.
Sunday was busy as well. It was the last Sunday School class for the quarter. I teach the spring and fall quarter, so for now, I have about 13 Sundays in the “big kid” class with my hubby, then it is back to teaching. Family Bible School is coming soon and it should be interesting, we are consentrating on the Creation, a facinating and often argued topic. After worship, we loaded up the truck at home with “junk” from the house to go to the dump. This was boxes and a few small furniture items and the fense waste from the back yard and such. It is great to see it gone! That evening we went to my brother-in-laws. We all, and I mean all, went to CiCi’s to eat dinner… There was me, my husband, our two children, 8 and 7; my brother-in-law, his wife and their three childres, 9, nearly 7, and 6; and my sister-in-law, her husband and their three daughters, 4, 2, and 1. It is neat to have activities where that many of us are together, it gives us quality time together and all the kids have a grand ol’ time. The adults played the Wii afterwards and the highlight of the evening for me was watching my sister-in-law’s husband dancing to the disco song for which he was playing a game to. It was hilarious.
Sunday night, we had five children at the house… we took my brother-in-law’s kids with us. They watched Indiana Jones and fell asleep. On Monday morning they played and played and played, then played for nearly two hours in the pool before heading home. These eyes of blue love to see all the kids together so much, some times they seem so close they could be siblings!
Speaking of the pool… it it blue again! Yes, that’s right, it was green-ish and gross looking, but now, it is better. These eyes of blue are glad to see water of blue!
Later in the day, my sister, her husband and son came over. You could tell when they got there that my nephew still did not feel well. But, luckily, as the day went on, he started feeling better and better and was even goofing off with my kids and laughing and smiling and giggling before they left. And, bonus… he liked the pool pretty well this time! Yeah.
Well, school is almost out for my kids they are winding down the year quickly. They can’t wait. Soon I will have a 4th grader and a 3rd grader. Wow, where has time gone?
And speaking of time, I made my son’s birthday party invitation. My mom said that he is not supposed to be nine years old yet… but he is… I told her that time sure does fly when you are too busy to notice!
That is my catch-up for now… these eyes of blue are signing off!
